Most major airline carriers fly into Belize City, BZE. Placencia is on a tiny peninsula south of Belize City, on the mainland. You have 2 options on getting to the peninsula:
Option 1
Catch a 25 minute hop from BZE to Placencia on Maya Air or Tropic Air for +- $65 each way and your hotel will pick you up at the airstrip with a refreshing welcome drink,
Option 2
Rent a car in Belize City and drive 4 hours on a long and speed bump-ridden road, dodging bicycles and chickens along the way. As you can tell, we chose #2 last time which resulted in some grumpy drivers (not naming any names) but we did have a car to explore around… so, you choose:)
Accomodations
The village is very small (as in one road, one sidewalk), so the resorts are also small. There are limited accommodations at Chabil Mar, so we have arranged for some other options that are within walking distance:
Caribbean PUR (adults only) has 2 remaining cabanas:
- Hacienda – 2 BR, 2 bath $389/night
- Casa Deluxe King – $229/night
The Ellysian is offering a 15% discount on rack rates:
- 2 – 1 BR beach suite w 2 queen beds $297.50/night
- 4 – 1 BR beach suite w king $255/night
- 6 – 1 BR beachfront studio $255/night

Other Options
Also close to the village and Chabil Mar are these good options: Mariposa, Miramar, Brissa Oceana, Ocean Breeze
